Granti Breeding Success

I caught 4 pairs of Dynastes granti in September and set them up in individual breeding bins. Just yesterday (about 6 months later), I sifted through all the substrate and found a total of 148 eggs and larvae.

Not bad for wild caught females that have usually already laid a decent amount of their eggs before collection.

Granti eggs take a notoriously long time to hatch, and after 6 months, just 16 of the 148 offspring were larvae, and two of them were already fat L2. It's not uncommon to have late stage L3 while the last of the eggs from the same batch are hatching.

Hopefully in the coming months I'll have a decent hatch rate and end up with a massive amount of larvae to share with fellow hobbyists.

Nice! Congrats on the egg haul. I'm still crossing my fingers that my remaining 2 D tityus females give me something.

Just be patient. I waited for a few months after the last female died to dig through all the substrate.

Were your females WC or CB? It's always a gamble with WC females as they've usually laid most of their ova before being collected. In all honesty, I just lucked out!
