Goryi Tank

Inle

Pupa
Here's my Eleodes goryi 2.5 gallon tank. They really like to climb on that rock, there are almost always two on the top of it, wiggling their antenna around. The females like to dig down backwards about twice their length, shaking their bums, then come up filling in the holes. I believe they are laying eggs but I haven't dug down to find out for sure. There are larva in this set up. Since goryi like to dig I gave them a bit more substrate than is in my community tank. I'm keeping them a little more moist as well since I find they most often along a stream. They eat all the same things that my other darklings do (red leaf lettuce, cucumber, carrot, potato, oats, dog food, ect). Goryi will do a classic head stander position and let loose a stinky smell when bothered. I think my E. subnitens has a stronger smell than the E. goryi, though. They also will play dead for a while if they are turned over quickly but not for too long.
