Fungi in my Dynastes containers

I bought organic potting soil for my Dynastes granti and tityus. But it was wet so I let it sit out for a while (a couple weeks) on my porch to dry.

With some of my plants I used to get this but it was white, and is actually calcium or other build ups. But I don't know about on these.

If I scoop out the top bit of the soil do you think it would be safe for my larva? Or should I throw it out and buy another bag?

when i got my potting soil it wasn't wet..but i heard mold doesn't effect larva. But i'm not 100% sure about that, some mold does.

 
I mixed up the one container to see what it does. I don't know for sure if it is fungi or just fertilizer that built up on the soil.

I might just buy a new bag saturday and dry it out faster by spreading it out on trashbags.

After looking online I do not think this is mold. But rather mineral deposits left by the evaporating water and hot temps. See here:

So what do you all think about the larva going in the soil now? I am thinking it is safe because this does not look like mold. The top of the soil was dry and there is quite a bit of air circulation where I am drying the soil. And I did not get sick right away from it.

I did have five D. tityus grubs and three D. granti eggs. The eggs look fine and so they went in the new bigger tubs.

But when I poured out the containers I had the tityus in I couldn't find them. I found the head of one but nothing else. And the air holes were too small for them to get out of. So I guess they all mysteriously died. Maybe they dried out too much while I was gone camping? I was gone a week and when I got back they had dried quite a bit, so I moistened them again and didn't think anything about them dying.

I just kept them in little holding containers, they dried out pretty bad while I was gone camping and so I am thinking they may have dehydrated while I was gone

I had them in the soil they were sent to me in.

Maybe the little granti will hatch and do well though

Might be able to make it up to you if they are infertile BTW...

I have heard that granti can take months and months to hatch on uncommon occasions. I hope these hatch soon though
