Found dead oak, how to use safely?

My grandparents have a massive Oak tree in the back. Some huge branches fell down that are dead and breaking down. How do I know if it's good to use? And if it is, if anyone would like some I could sell a bit of it lol I can try and post pictures if needed, or I can share my Instagram, Facebook etc on here. I'm almost always on mobile so posting pics on here is hard.

Try using a hammer, if it dents the wood pretty well it should be good, but if it barely dents it it's too hard, and if it goes right through the wood with almost no resistance it's too soft/rotten.

Really Bugboy? I never knew that. I thought the softer the better
generally yes, especially for daynastids and cetoniids, but of course it can always be too soft for certain grubs, especially lucanids, who often prefer a little bit less rotted wood.
