Feeding some new grubs...

Hello! My students and I were on a little field trip picking potatoes, and we found some grubs! Knowing how much I love beetles, the little larva were given to me. I guess we're going to keep them as a class pet of sorts (pretty common in Japan)!

At first I thought they were small larva of a kabutomushi rhinoceros beetle, but my vice principal told me they actually might be kanabun, which my dictionary says is a drone beetle? Though we're not actually sure what they are. Anyone know what I should give these guys in general? I'll probably throw in a sweet potato, considering I found them in a potato field, but is regular soft wood (like you'd feed a rhino beetle) okay for these larva, too?

Thanks!

Can you publish a photo ?

If you have find this larva in a potato field, they will probably prefer the potato root / potato to rotten wood. Maybe a Melolonthidae larva ?
