Egg hatching tips for D. Granti?

Hi there,

I just finished digging up eggs from a batch of adult D. Granti, and I came up with about 25 (excluding the deformed/busted ones). Are there any particular conditions I should be keeping them in? To remove them from the initial breeding box, I separated them and added them to a small container with no lid, and placed each one on the top of the substrate. Should I re-cover them with soil? Should I have a lid on the container, or does it matter at all.

And one more question: I’ve read that keeping them in slightly higher temps will speed up the growth/hatch time, should I keep them near(not on! far away from) a heating pad? I have an under-the-tank heater for a ball python that keeps the area around it pretty warm, so I was thinking of placing the egg container about 3 or so feet away.

keep them at 25 Celcius  with proper moisture not too wet not to dry. dont bother them and they will hatch. mine hatched within 1.5 weeks. some takes longer though.

D. granti eggs can take quite long time to hatch. Some of the eggs may hatch in 6 months time. But normally most of the eggs would hatch withing 1-2 month especially if you will keep them above 20C.

I’ve had great luck and managed to hatch quite a few already, thanks though!
