What is the largest Dynastes tityus ever recorded?

I've seen a confirmed specimen of 70.75 mm - yes, I'm talking about tityus, not grantii.

I have a granti male at 67mm, that tityus must be scary....it's a flying mouse!

I heard that they grow up to 75mm in Japan with their "high protein flake soil"

I think my record size for D. tityus so far is 69 mm, from several years ago -

That’s one big Dynastes tityus.

That one took 2 years to go from egg to adult, and was reared on fermented oak sawdust.  He was one of several of comparable size from the same generation.

What is the possibility of your Dynastes Tityus larvae dying? Are fresh collected substrate in a cavity of a tree suitable for Dynastes Tityus? I've made hundreds of gallons in the past but most of them succeeded. This one batch that did this summer didn't turn out that great. I saw a Japanese research file about flake soil. It said to add a plant based protein and when I did so, it created green mold in 4 days. So, are fresh collected substrate in a cavity of a tree suitable for Dynastes Tityus? Thanks, Daniel.
