Dynastes Tityus Male

I bought a dynastes tityus pair a few days ago and the male's elytra is just brown; no dots or yellow color. He doesn't eat, is sluggish, and burrows under the soil. Most of the time he just stays beneath the soil throughout the day. However, the female is very active, eats frequently and has that yellow color. Is this because the male is still in diapause? Correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not really familiar with diapause (just heard about it). Thanks.

Correct, your male is still in diapause, and is probably very freshly emerged.

Dynastes tityus is known to be yellow-brown to olive green with greatly varying amounts of reddish-brown to black asymmetrical spots, varying in sizes and sparse to large, and moderately dense to nearly mottled on elytra. This bright yellow and vivid color with dots shows up little later than when just freshly emerged. Some takes few weeks, while others may take several months. Completely normal.

Ok thank you, he's been buried under the substrate for quite a while now even though it's around 75 degrees in my room. Guess I'll have to wait a few months to finally see him running around lolol
