Hello everyone! So I’m new to breeding Dynastes tityus but had a question about something. I was going through soil looking for eggs my adults might have laid. It’s been a few month when looking through the potting mix I found a few L1/L2 larvae among the eggs. I’m trying to figure out how they survived and were able to make it to L2 in the potting soil. What were they feeding on? 

 
The potting soil. Dynastes is not that picky. I have heard of people raising Dynastes on potting soil alone. Probably not the healthiest way to raise them but it can work.
