Dying Oak Tree

I've come across a couple dying oak trees (pin oak I believe) that are dropping their leaves and I was hoping to pick up as many as possible. However, I don't believe the trees are dying from old age. They seem to be dying from a rust of sorts and all the leaves have strange white circles on them. Could I still use these leaves to feed beetle larvae or should I avoid them? I don't think the rust would hurt the larvae, but I was curious if anyone had thoughts on this?

I don't think this would effect the larvae, as long as you sanitize the leaves. Just in case, the white spots could be fungal growth, so you might want to check the substrate for the fungus spreading.
