DHL female whitish film

Hey guys,

My Dhh female has a whitish film on her back. She has been burrowing for a few days and I am afraid she has a fungus or something.......any ideas? HELP

It did not come out well in the photo.....looks very white when compared to the other female....dehydration?

It also looks like a wing may have gotten damaged. There is something coming out of the butt end of her shell....kind of a long string looking thing, I think part of the main structure of her wing. :-(

I wouldn't worry about it. I think it is dry substrate, When she surfaces the sub stuck to her drys and sticks. I have seen it on all my hercs. Its fine IMO

I totally agree with Johnboy. If u want to be sure that these aren't mites, you can simply scrape parts of those white stuffs off and watch it. If they are indeed mites, they will start to crawl slowly.

I have a jewelers loupe, I will check tonight with that to see if they may be mites. It didn't look like it last night, but who knows.

Hi, theres no need to check. It will be substrate,. I have dozens of photos of similar female hercs with the same thing.
