Dhh adult habitat

Hey guys,

just wondering if anyone can help me. I have my first Dhh adult female and am having a fungus gnat problem with the substrate. Can I dry it out? Does it need to be moist? I have 1 more female and 2 males yet to surface, and would like to have the habitat set up so I dont have the gnat problem. Thanks for your help!

I am having the same problem in my Bess beetle tank. I thought they were fruit flies at first, but they're not. I tried laying down strips of material with one side coated with corn syrup ( read about this online) but so far it's not working.

I took my one adult and moved it to a 20 gallon aquarium......I took out all the substrate and baked it.I think for the adult, the substrate doesn't have to be so moist. As for the bin with the 3 others waiting to emerge, I took off the first few inches of soil and baked that too. I now have the bin open with a fan on it to help dry it out a bit. Hopefully this will help :-) once the other 3 emerge, at least I will only have one possible fungus gnat source to deal with..LOL
