Composter Query

Hi everyone.

I have just purchased an electric composter to make flake soil production easier.

For anyone that uses one of these can you help? The composter came with two bags of 'microbes' that need to be added to the composter first when using to make compost for the garden. However, I'm guessing this does not need to be added when the composter is being used purely to make flake soil, as the flour/wheatbran and yeast are the activators. Is this correct?

Many thanks

Did you purchase less than a gallon size capacity available on Amazon? or is it something large enough to carry about 10 or more gallons?

You don't need such thing. Throw away! Just add flake soil and then add whatever additives you think it would work well! Good luck.

I've used such electric composters before.  True, you don't need the compost "activator" bag of microbes that came with the unit, since you're not making garden compost.  Just use a small amount of active dry yeast, or around a cup of old beetle substrate to introduce the starter microbial culture to your mixture each time.
