Will Coco Fiber as a substrate for beetles be harmful?

It won't harm or help them. It should only be used as a filler. Beetles wont lay eggs in Coco fiber by itself and larvae wont derive any nutrients from it.

The larvae will not benefit from the coco fiber but many beetle species WILL indeed lay their eggs in it. Dynastes tityus, for instance, can even lay eggs in somewhat sandy dirt with no nutrients.
