Can too moist of sub cause a black spot?

I think, yes. But I am not sure this IS the cause. I have come to the conclusion that it very well might be. Many of the larvae of Lucanus elaphus (when kept in substrate that is moist) got black spots. The DREADED black spots. XD

How moist the substrate should be for Oryctes nasicornis? Mine are dying

and I'm wondering if it is possible to save some of them. Pretty sure all of them have at least some black spots. Today I took samples from substrate to measure the moisture content. Should have results as soon as the samples have dried.

Substrate moisture was 77%. It is possible to squeeze water out of it by hand. Is that too much?

Yes, if you can squeeze it out by hand, then that's too much water.
