You use only the Potting mix? That sounds good. Is there any way to buy the wood needed for the mazama's? Or something commercially available that could work? Thanks!
I find both D. granti very easy to egg out. The soil must not be too dry. I don't really make a science of it because it's not necessary. Moisture seems to be the main factor. Also, these beetles tend to dry out really quickly and die if they aren't kept in a humid environment with access to liquids or wet foods like fruit or jellies.
I had an easy time of egging out the one L. mazama I collecte in AZ a couple years ago. I buried some oak wood in the same kind of compost soil I use for D. granti and the female just took care of business with some 50+ eggs (I had three males).
