Thought I’d show off the current state of my desert darkling tank. Currently just houses 4 blue death feigners but I plan to add more species of darklings. Substrate is aquarium sand with topsoil on the right to create a humid area, with some gravel on top for texture. Decor is mopani wood, rocks, a piece of obsidian, and real bones! I love the look of the bones and the beetles crawl inside the vertebrae which is cool. I plan to add some cholla pieces and a (fake) cactus at some point. Currently I am using a 40 watt basking bulb to create a hotspot on the obsidian piece. The beetles have been way more active since I added the heat lamp but I may reduce it to 25 watts at some point since a 90-95 degree hotspot seems a bit too hot.
