I would suggest pulling the pupa out of the cell and very carefully wiping off the mould, it may well be growing on something on the outside of the pupa. Clean out any mouldy bits of old larval skin in the cell, then replace the pupa.

Shame about the pupa dying - see if you can dry it out as a specimen.

because mold wont be growing if the pupae is alive...
I have seen mould growing on stuff stuck to the outside of a live pupa before, hence my comment about wiping it off. Had the same sort of thing happen very occasionally with incubating stick insect eggs and overwintering moth pupae and have wiped the mould off with no ill effects.
