I can't lie, the fat toad was my favorite. :D  I had no idea there was such a fascinating rest stop near where I live! Awesome video!

 
Yeah, there are sooo  many beetles too! I gathered up some Pelidnota lugubris and have larvae of them going again. The beetle diversity of that stop is just so amazing. I'm interested to hear if you go and especially this time of year. I'm curious what it would look like by comparison. My video above was filmed in early August.

 
Rest stops/gas stations are the best for that kind of thing. There are a few really productive ones in west Texas, plus an ATM in Ft. Davis where you can snag 8+ species of scarabs (including 3+ species of dynastines) if you time it right.

Basically anywhere that doesn't really use LED lights has high potential. LEDs can still attract insects, but the diversity is much lower.
