Any tips on breeding Amphizoa sp?

I am not too familiar with literature on Amphizoidae, but captive care is mentioned briefly in the following:

A systematic review of amphizoid beetles (Amphizoidae: Coleoptera) and their phylogenetic relationships to other adephaga

David H. Kavanaugh (1986)

Proceedings of the California Academy of Sciences 44(4):67-109

Kavanaugh says Amphizoidae are only semiaquatic in the wild, and that they move, feed, and oviposit at least as well, if not better, under terrestrial conditions. He also states that both eggs and larvae have been developed out of water in a lab setting, and pupation occurs on land.

As to what to feed them, you could try crushed/wounded crickets or even pelletized food (algae cakes for fish, etc). Many Adephaga will scavenge and feed on these items and there is chance Amphizoids will as well. Good luck! Let us know if you get them to take any other types of food.

I have about 18 adults. So far I have not seen them eating. I am trying to get them to eat dog food and pre-killed mealworms. Hopefully I can get them to eat and lay eggs.

 
No eggs yet, I now have about 30 adults. They seem to be eating the dog food. I am keeping them in a small Tupperware with moist coco fiber. I have dead leaves for them to hide in. I hope I get some eggs soon!

 
Update: All of them died before reproducing. They sorta ate the dog food, but I think they were not eating enough, it seems like they starved to death. Oh well, maybe I'll try again next year.

 
Sorry to hear that, Hisserdude. I was SO hoping they would breed for you. BTW, did you ever get a chance to try giving them crickets?

 
No, but I doubt they would eat them. I tried feeding them: dead mealworms, live mealworms, dog food, hermit crab cakes, and live isopods. They seemed to only nibble on the dog food.
