Allomyrina dichotoma rupture

My adult female while I was holding her she fell off my hand and she kind of ruptured herself a bit in the abdomen. So I put her in her enclosure to rest and gave her a beetle jelly. Will she be able to lay eggs and breed and stuff?

That sounds bad. was the rapture large?

They usually flap their wings when falling, if they are healthy, to reduce the damage.

Did your female just emerge from pupa? if so, she would not be able to fly and would be very fragile for 2 weeks or so.

ah, ok. they your beetle will have a higher chance to survive.

when I first started collecting beetles, I would carry a big box and put a few beetles that I collected into the box.

some beetles will fight during that process and got injured. now I put them in a small tube, then put into the box so they are separated.

few things I used to do to reduce bleeding is to cut a small part from a bandage (the sticky part, not the cotton part), and just tape it on the beetle's wound.

or use a drop of melted wax (not too hot!) to cover the wound.

Abdomen sounds harder to treat though, maybe she will kick the things off.

Imagoes that have just recently eclosed will stay in a torpid state for a week to two weeks in order for their organs to become mature and active. It is advised not to disturb the newly eclosed imagoes and allow them to stay within their pupal chambers untill they dig their way up to the surface upon maturation.

If the handling of newly eclosed imagoes can't wait then what you can do is handling them close to the ground or put some soft materials beneath to serve as a cushion.

I hope everything will be alright for your female rhino, good luck!

Honestly, if the substrate is in the wound I would not let the beetle dry like that. If it was me, I would wash the wound off with water. I would then place the female on a substrate that's split with 50% dry coconut husk on one side and 50% damp sphagnum moss on the other side.

Sorry to hear that man, that sucks.

Would be very surprised if she recovered from such a rupture, especially since it's only been a few days since she eclosed...

Keep us updated, hope she pulls through!
