My first specimen of Dynastes tityus collected in Louisiana this year. They appear in Louisiana starting the first or second week of May, but their peak active time is around mid-June to mid-July. The biggest number collected in a single night in Louisiana with my colleague was over 15 specimens. I'm hoping to see that miracle again.
This was rather an unexpected collection, didn't actually meant to collect D. tityus. I'll probably start collecting D. tityus near new moon this year. Maybe second week of month or so. I do aware couple females are recorded in this year in Louisiana, so yea, I'm sure they are about to start flying around. Just not the peak season yet!
