I am currently raising what my entomology professor and I believe to be an eastern hercules beetle larva. I've been feeding it pieces of decaying wood I've pulled off of trees, which it has been eating. What will it eat as an adult? 

Sorry I originally posted this in the wrong section. This may be a dumb question, but is it possible to determine the sex of a larva or is it only really possible to tell after it has pupated? I'm specifically asking about a larva I so far believe to be Dynastes tityus. Thank you.
