These two fed for about an hour then promptly hooked up. The female was quite receptive and didn't try to push the male away or escape.

This one eclosed from a 21.6 gram pupa. He measured in at 65 mm. I have two large females out as well. I haven't measured them yet.

Is it normal to have more females than males? I have 14 female pupae plus two adult females that already eclosed. So far I have only 9 male pupae! Is this normal? I still have a few more to pupate so I'm hoping they will be males. Enough females already!!!

I've been keeping and breeding bugs for many years, but I'm new to beetles. I'm working with D. tityus right now. I collected adults in southern Maryland at lights last year and this year. Last year's larvae are pupating(two females out)and this year's are just hatching from eggs.
