    Very interesting larva photo!

This is a dead Phileurus truncatus that died and dried out. A fungus grew from within and grew outwards. Could this fungus live within this larva until adulthood, and spread the fungus elsewhere when it flies to other trees?

    Longhorn found in aquatic flower

I found a longhorn beetle, that I haven't seen before in a lake inside an aquatic plant flower. The plant was Cow Lily (Nuphar advena). I've read these other beetle larvae live in them, but it did not say longhorns do. I wonder how many beetles live in these aquatic flowers now.

    Drying specimens fast.

I usually use a low power bulb to dry big specimens fast, but I am going to try my food dehydrator. Does anyone see any problem with this method (I plan on keeping it at 105F)? I think the faster the specimen is dried the better. I just hope their joints don't become too brittle.
