My recently acquired specimen was extremely sluggish and moves for only short periods each day. Last night I caught it moving, and it walked on top of an apple slice without trying to eat, so I assume it is full and ate something while I was not looking.

Found this sitting on a palm stump on a beach while on vacation in Mexico. After trying to pry it off the stump and then have it cling so tightly to my hand it left red marks, I now know what Orin is referring to when the Ultimate Guide says "Dynastes Tityus hangs on tightly with claws". Ouch.

This is going to sound outrageous. With only one exception (a female which died last week of old age), all of the superworm beetles that hatched last summer/fall and didn't die of unnatural causes are still alive today! Any idea why they are living more than twice as long as their normal...
