My A. verrucosus were in the middle of some amorous behavior (i could only surmise), when they "died" so it looked as if they were cuddling.

No, they're death feigning beetles.

I knocked into a table by their enclosure and they fell over in fright, as they are prone to do.

I see them mating occasionally. I'll have to disturb them next time I see it and see if the male grabs onto the female like this. It is rather amusing to watch the female lumbering around with the male on her back.
