    Using mushroom mycelium in substrate

I have been debating whether to share this or to keep it to myself and maybe share it later on after "perfecting" it...but I have decided to share it for others to experiment further with this. Here is my method for producing "kinshi jars" or my spin on what I understand the concept to be. I...

    Lucanus mazama

So, after my trip to AZ earlier this year I ended up with 4 female L. mazamas. These produced quite a few eggs for me and I have a few L2 grubs already. Here are some photos up through large L1 larvae at the bottom, I will try for some L2 photos soon.

    Eleodes colony

Figured some people might find my Eleodes colony interesting... These are Eleodes acuticauda laticollis, or just E. laticollis...hard to believe they are a subsp of the others. Doing their thing The larvae is about the size of a medium mealworm.

These photos dont exactly capture just how cute these little guys are but... They are about 1/2"-3/4". I dont have any larvae of them in the cup this group is in but I have had them in the past keeping them on peat with a bit of egg crate.
  7. What

    Dicaelus purpuratus

Not really happy with that photo at all, more will be posted later... The rearing of the larvae of these appears to be as simple as snails(as in feeding them snails) but I have no info on sexing, breeding, or anything else, just that the larvae were being reared as early as the year 1900 in...

    Sand loving beetle keeping

So, I have a few adults and larvae of a local dune inhabiting species of tenebrionid, Coelus globosus, these are found in coastal dunes under native vegetation and iceplant in substrate that ranges from pure sand to a nearly 50/50 mix of organic matter and sand... My initial setup was two...
