    Substrate for chalcosoma moellenkampi larvae

I am acquiring some Chalcosoma moellenkampi larvae, and need substrate. Ordering from overseas is super expensive (2 weeks worth is 43 dollars). Making sub is not an option as I don't have the time or resources available to me. Would the hardwood blend from bugsincyberspace.com be sufficient to...

Laws on transporting beetles, dead/alive, from south america to north america

Before I write this, no, I am not originally planning on bringing any animals across the border. I only want to do this if it is safe, which I severely doubt. I'm going to Bolivia over Christmas and want to know the laws on bringing insects (specifically beetles) across the border from Bolivia...

    Odontolabis siva Larvae Die-Off

Hello all, I've been raising Odontolabis siva larvae (l2-3) for 2 months now and most of them have died off. They all started burrowing and eating and they grew quite a bit, and then one of them started hanging on the surface. I was concerned, and the larva started shrinking and died within...

    Pyrophorus Noctilucus

I'm going to Bolivia/Peru/Elsewhere in South America this Christmas and was wondering if I could find pyrophorus there. I know they are from South America but not sure of the locality. Just for pictures, obviously! Info on habitat would also be welcome. Thanks, Vinegaroonie

WTB Carabids, Rove Beetles, Tiger Beetles

I've started to take interest in predatory beetles. Scarabs and stags are great but the short lifespans and the difficulty of finding substrate is getting tiresome, but I really love beetles and would like to give these a try. Large rove beetles would be especially appreciated! Thanks!

WTB: Rhino, Stag and Flower Beetles

Hello, I've just moved back to the US! I have a lot of money saved in my "bug funds" and would like to get back into beetles. Not entirely sure what I want yet, but something along the lines of stag/rhinos/flower beetles would be great. Just offer! L2-3 larvae is what I am looking for, buying...

    Italian Beetle ID

Hello! Living in Florence, Italy, and on several occasions while walking to school I have come across some largish black beetles with teal blue leg segments and thin blue lines around its body. Found on an asphalt walkway with maple and sycamore leaf litter. -Niko

I just got some BDFs from Repticon and I'm very happy with them! My female is Gertrude, and my two males are Phillip and Steve. Im currently keeping them in a small plastic tank with a big fake plant and sand mixed with some eco earth as sub. They also have some dead oak leaves as hiding places...

    Phanaeus vindex have arrived!

Just had some phanaeus vindex (rainbow dung beetles) arrive at my doorstep! I'm going to be breeding them soon and will have larvae available! Any tips on breeding and care? I think I have the basics and have a ready supply of rabbit dung, but any additional advice is welcome!
