A friend of mine found these beetles in a stump. I am wondering if anyone can help identify the species? I was thinking Lucanus capreolus? The second photo would not upload, but hopefully it will show up with the photobucket link....

Found this grub in a tree stump. This is the first grub I've found. Not sure what species it might be, and have been trying to research what the possibilities are. So far I can't seem to figure it out with comparing raster pattern photos online. Any ideas? Thanks for looking!
