  1. I have a 10 gallon tank with 5 blue death feigning beetles. I’ll soon be getting a 20 gallon tank and would like to move my guys in there and add some friends. I think any other teneb would get along with the BDFBs and Ive read that velvet ants and desert scorpions are also good tankmates for them. Im wondering if y’all have views on those or suggestions for other possible additions. Also, how many beetles/other inverts can I put in a 20 gallon tank without overcrowding them? Thanks!
  2. I have five very active blue death-feigning beetles whose behavior constantly amuses and perplexes me. I never thought beetles would be so engaging! Anyway, I’m glad to be here, hoping to learn more about my beetles and maybe introduce some other species!
  3. So I recently added a couple of pieces of dog kibble to see if my blue death feigning beetles liked it. I also tried a couple of pieces of fish food. Typically I give them vegetables, oatmeal, and sometimes fruit. I noticed today that they have not eaten them. Instead, they moved them from the corner of the tank where I put the food (bottom left in the bird’s eye view picture) to the farthest corner, behind a piece of cholla wood (top right). They also moved some little “tumbleweeds” over to block off the corner. Is this normal behavior? Any guesses as to why they are doing this? They don’t seem to have eaten much if any of them so I kind of doubt they’re storing it for later eating. Maybe they hate it and are trying to get rid of it?
