Lucanus elaphus male

Recommended Posts

Just got this 54mm Lucanus elaphus male in the mail today. Time to find a female! One of the hardest species I ever tried to breed, hopefully this time I have success.

What is the most difficult part about breeding them? I currently have a lot of larvae that came from a couple of wild caught females so that would be helpful.

Getting them to breed in captivity isn't always easy. Of course WC females will drop eggs. This is my third run with this species and I learned a lot of stuff by a guy who specializes in breeding them.

Woot! Gorgeous male! Good luck on rearing them! Any plans on selling some of the possible larvae?
