Stag Beetles

Xyloryctes jamaicensis

Recommended Posts

I found a Xyloryctes jamaicensis about a couple of months ago, (In July) it dissapeared for a while, and today I looked, and saw it had passed at the surface of the soil. Do beetles usually come to the surface when they are dying? By the way, it did live for two months...also, I am the same as Eleodes hispilabris, I just had a problemo with that account...

Yea, but not all of the time. It could have flipped over and was not able to get up. This is usually a death sentence for beetles.

As I said, this is USUALLY a death sentence for beetles. If they can flip back over, they obviously won't die but if they're stuck for a long period; they will.

also it depends if the beetle was WC

this is because the age is not known

it could be towards the end of life already if it is WC
