    I would Waite a little bit, for his shell to harden. But if you must get him out I would be very careful not to move him around to much. Which specie of beetle is it by the way?

    Lol, 100$ for a D.Granti pair??? The male should have been at least 5 inches for that price. I wish I knew a location to go collecting in the spring.

    Should the substrate be only sand, or 2 parts sand one part soil and so on. Also do you think I can house a single female in a 1 gallon tank? Also is there any obvious sighn between males from females?

    Oh and everything can be fed bananas or beetle jelly's except the bess beetles which eat rotten wood.

    There are 5 common options that are avaible most of the year: D.Granti D.Tityus Lucanus elephus Ox beetles Bess beetles Some substates can attract mites more than others, I suggest a high wood based sub by the way.

    Ya I'm still waiting on my D.Tityus larvae to pupate. Hopefully they will in the next month or two.

    Right before they go into pupation they turn a yellowy color. That's all I know, lol. Sorry to hear that you lost some larvae.

  24. I have to ship a stag beetle out next week, and the person who's receiving the beetle lives in a area where it gets really cold. I'm going to put a couple 72 hour heat pads in the box. I just want to find out what type of substate should I use, most of the time I use moist paper towels, but will moister freeze the beetle. Any ideas are welcomed, thanks.
