Yep, they like apples but will probably eat anything. They could be assassin bugs, maybe try seeing what they do with a stunned/killed cricket?
-
I would try feeding them fruits, boxelder bugs and other true insects like leaf footed bugs and stink bugs will readily eat fruits for me
-
Can you get any closer pictures or bigger pictures? Where and what did you find them on?
-
Hi I caught this tiger beetle while camping a couple days ago, I am in Michigan. It eats killed/half killed crickets readily.
-
I feed them small crickets that I prekill or stun. They will take them right from tweezers if the crickets are stunned.

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beetleforumnet/184231481713926?ref=ts&fref=ts Just created a couple minutes ago Let me know what you all would like on it and I will do my best. The cover photo was going to be the sites banner, but I couldn't make it fit so I had to use the beginning photo to enter the site.

Thanks again for all that! Its become a rather popular page It wouldn't have been possible to make such a nice page without your two
-
We might get 30 people by midnight!
-
I am on your page also

Hi everyone Does this site have a facebook page? If not maybe we should I could make one if it is wanted. I noticed the mantid forum had one and figured our beetles need one to
-
Maybe we can all start growing click beetles and get some care info put together on how to breed them
-
Eleodes are great! I have tiny babies in six 6 quart totes of substrate, three different species (Eleodes goryi, subnitens, and acuticauca) Once they grow a bit I may start trading and selling them.
-
I will separate them and do like you said It would be cool to breed click beetles, I don't think it is very common for people to do them.
-
I may have to try that, just put some dry cat food in the substrate? Would I need to worry about separating the larva?
-
I don't really have a lot of nsects that I could feed them, well, I do have some of those little tiny bean weevils but I doubt the larva would eat those.
-
I hope they are some sort of darkling Other than Tenebrio molitor anyways I already have a colony of those I am assuming that either way they should like carrots and whatever my mealworms and Eleodes will eat.
-
Yes, Eleodes are wonderful and eat almost anything you give them They love fish food! Along with fish food I give mine carrots, apple, oats, hermit crab food, cuttlefish bone, cat food, and whatever else I decide at the time
-
I have never tried potatoes with them, or Eleodes. Maybe just give them both and watch what happens?
-
Yep, that would be Eleodes They are easier than stags in the sense that they don't "need" wood. They are perfectly fine eating other items like carrots.
-
I wish I had tiger beetles more commonly around here, they are rare to find, at least to me anyways

Hi everyone Just wondering if it is legal to keep beetles that could be seen as "pest" like ten lined junes beetles and Cotinis? These beetles are not in Michigan so I am thinking they cannot live in the cold winters we have. I think these beetles are rather pretty and was thinking of keeping some and breeding. But I would not release any. My only question is, could I get fined or something for keeping things like those?

Nice pictures and beetles!

Flat bark beetle larva? Or maybe some sort of ground beetle?
