I have ants crawling and breeding in my Pachnoda peregrina tank. How do I get rid of them without hurting the beetles or larve? Is it more than a change of substrate? I have also heard putting packing tape, slippery side up on the tank keeps them out, any advice?

I say try a thin layer of petroleum jelly on the upper inch or two of the inside of the container. Since it keeps most climbing things in it ought to keep new ants out.

I tried that, it works for cockroaches but not ants because the beetles need a lid on the terrarium, the ants crawl on the lid and fall in. Thanks though, any one else have any advice?

I'm sure you could try it on the outside.
