  1. I don't think a lot are being bred, they're a little touchy and so plentiful in the wild.
  2. If they're clearly marked it's not so bad. The taboo is mostly selling hybrids as something else or ruining existing lines.
  3. I know "people" say that but I don't believe anyone has documented or even kept one that long. They normally only live 3-4 years.
  4. I like Eleodes spinipes and one stock is as old as 2006. Also, a good rhino would be Dynastes tityus. Stags are great but North American Lucanus aren't easy past the first generation.
  5. Welcome! Darklings can be rewarding and long-lived but some are hard to breed. Have you tried new types of beetles?
  6. Maybe a deep substrate, big dead leaves or and carrion on top? Were they only on sand?
  7. Welcome! If you like them as much you might try with flower beetles or rhinos first. Stags are a little more exacting.
  8. 5.5 mm more likely to be hercules than tityus
  9. Love to see how you feed them and get/raise grubs.
  10. He's been preparing to pupate since the day he hatched, but prepupa is normally the immobile stage when they can't use their legs anymore.
  11. Probably not prepupa yet, looks like it could still remake cell
  12. There are a bunch of neat native species, if those were widely kept it would make a difference.
  13. They're easy but they need to be fed and do kill each other if kept together too long. Hard to find them I thought, especially this time of year.
