  1. Some pasimachus look really cool! Same with tiger beetles, you just have to look pretty hard because they're difficult to find lol. Didn't know about Lucanus mazama... thanks!
  2. We have 3 Megasoma species but they are near impossible to find for sale. Lucanus carpreoleus (spelling?) Lucanus elaphus Lucanus placidus (not sure about this one) Phileurus spp. Strategus antaeus/other spp. Xylocortes thestalus Megasoma spp Dynastes tityus Dynastes granti Gymnetis spp Osmoderma spp All nice native beetles in scarabidae/cetonidae/lucanidae
  3. Dynastes tityus and granti are pretty common to find for sale on here, but not really in the winter. Probably have to wait for it to get warmer. Also, the most commonly kept stag beetle here is Lucanus elaphus, but again, probably wait it out.
  4. As far as I know the larvae are extremely hardy and will eat most edible things. I can dig them up in the garden where there's just mulch and potting soil, and also below my fruit trees...
  5. Wrong topic/message? Usually there are at least some tarantulas and maybe inverts. The ones we have here usually have millipedes and more present, and they have pedes scorps ts and roaches. Most expos have tarantulas though.
  6. Yeah, about what I thought. Lol ratmosphere, my Japanese friend did that and the airplane pressure exploded the beetles o.O
  7. Before I write this, no, I am not originally planning on bringing any animals across the border. I only want to do this if it is safe, which I severely doubt. I'm going to Bolivia over Christmas and want to know the laws on bringing insects (specifically beetles) across the border from Bolivia to California, dead or alive. I'm pretty sure that it's a huge no no but want to make sure just in case there are exceptions/loopholes/it is completely legal. The beetles in question would be scarabs, prionids, click beetles, etc and obviously, if possible, dynastes, megasoma and other giants. Again, I know that this is most likely a no but I can not find anyone who actually knows the specific laws/regulations and google has been no help. Thanks, Niko
  8. Wait foreign stag beetles are allowed in CA? Wat?
  9. I'm going to Bolivia/Peru/Elsewhere in South America this Christmas and was wondering if I could find pyrophorus there. I know they are from South America but not sure of the locality. Just for pictures, obviously! Info on habitat would also be welcome. Thanks, Vinegaroonie
  10. Hello! Living in Florence, Italy, and on several occasions while walking to school I have come across some largish black beetles with teal blue leg segments and thin blue lines around its body. Found on an asphalt walkway with maple and sycamore leaf litter. -Niko
  11. Thanks, are the larva carnivorous like other tiger beetles?
  12. Oh wow, thanks. Yeah, I thought that they would be hard to breed.
  13. Don't know if the photo worked, lemme try again.
  14. Manticora manticora, coming to my home in Italy in 3 days. So excited, any idea on care/breeding? Thanks in advance for any help, Niko
  15. What species are these again? And where did you find them? They are gorgeous!
