a lot of stuff, including mantises, lucanus capreolus, saturniid moths, lucanus capreolus, the woods, lucanus capreolus, reddish brown stag beetle, lucanus capreolus, bonsai trees, lucanus capreolus, fire, lucanus capreolus, shapeshifters, lucanus capreolus, ginger ale, lucanus capreolus, and a lot of other stuff. did I mention lucanus capreolus?
ok, for the record, i figured out the problem
when these guys die, they shrivel up and look just like they are half eaten
but upon closer inspection, they are still intact
i got some virginia creeper sphinx moth eggs from a wild female and they hatched
the larvae eat virginia creeper and i think each other
they are 3rd and 4th instar
and i've been seeing half eaten larvae in the cage
what should I do???
I noticed that at least 2 of the females are dead and the males are dying as well
how do i know if i got any eggs or not? is it the time of year for them to die?
thanks!
well I still have no females, I was blacklighting last night but right as I was attracting some lucanus capreolus a raccoon came out of the woods and drove me away and i just went to bed afterwards, say, do females hide in the same places males do during the day?
last night i blacklighted but only caught 3 males, no females yet, but a major male almost killed a minor male, but i have like 8 males so it isn't a problem, btw how many eggs does 1 female lay?
i found a minor male under that same rotting tree, i'm gonna destroy that whole tree looking through it! not saying that as if i want to, that's just what may end up happening
