  1. Well, I guess I will have to wait and see with my Gymnetis they should be pupating soon. As for Japanese beetles I was going to net some on some cannas I have in a pot and then plant grass in the soil of the pot for the larvae to feed on the roots. I just need a good source of grubs.
  2. I seem to have no issue getting larvae to adults but have been unable to produce eggs. I can't see what the problem is. I have raised a number of African flower beetles from L1 through adulthood and had them live for about four months without egg laying even though I saw them coupled for hours. I really want to work with natives more than exotics but they are few and far between. It would seem they are just to plain for most people to keep. I would breed Popillia japonica if someone told me how to do it.
  3. That is much better for me as I have better luck with rotting wood than I do with leaves. So far I have failed to get a number of "easy" Cetoniinae to breed under my care. The last ones I have to fail with are Gymnetis caseyi. I need a really east beetle to breed. I hope this is it.
  4. Osmoderma eremicola seems like something I could enjoy rearing or possibly Phileurus truncatus. These two would be the ones I would be most interested in keeping as pets. Anyone working with either of these?
  5. I just recently read that same information on one of your sites. I was quite disapointed. I will have to hold out for Osmoderma eremicola. As this was what I looking for on youtube. Can anyone help me with these?
  6. Well, pretty close it's in St. George Utah. I just thought they looked much larger. I need to remember they are in a childs hands. Now for the next question are they in culture and does anyone have any? They seem pretty amazing to me.
  7. It would seem that Xyloryctes thestalus only grow to 25-30mm and these look much larger. They do however share a great deal of other physical characteristics. Perhaps someone else can shed some light on these beetles?
  8. I was looking at some videos and came across this one. Can anyone Identify these beetles from the video?
  9. Congats on the move. What does that mean for BICS? I hope more new and exciting species for us all.
  10. I know a few people in Brownsville TX. I'll have to see if they can do some hunting for me.
  11. You might be correct. It does not change the fact that I can't get one. I would be interested in native beetles with this type of horn structure.
  12. Megasoma actaeon is the winner. I'm so upset now I bought this beek for US beetles not to be teased. It's not even that attractive and I was unaware of the size I just liked the horn. Are there any native beetles with this style of horn structure?
  13. I an looking for identification of the beetle in the lower left hand corner of the cover of this book. And any iformatin as to it care and availability. Thanks in advance.
  14. Will these be for sale in the spring? Do you know the exact species of shelf fungus they are feeding on or are they not specific to one type. How often are you offering fresh fungus? And what is the time span of their life cycle? Thanks in advance.
  15. I am unable to breed them as I only have one female. They do molt but mine has not. The one Orin has did. We are all awaiting new pics. I will post some actual ones of mine once I figure this site out. I still can't figure out my profile.
