One of my fantail goldfish had its eye plucked out and is now lying on the bottom of the tank, motionless except for its mouth movements. The koi which live with it are prime suspects because I had seen them pushing it and the other healthy fantail around by the rear a few hours ago (I thought it was mating behavior). It seems to still be save-able. Anyone know what to do?

  • They don't seem overcrowded (5 fish, all medium sized 2-5 inches in a 60 gallon)
  • They had lived with the koi for quite a while
  • Some goldfish are known to suck out the eyes of Telescope goldfish, but we have none of those
  • Melafix was added
  • Not isolated to avoid further stress (the koi seem to ignore it now)
