  1. Lemme get sum white rotten wood.
  2. Oh so any dorcus from the east and oyster is good for beginner. I guess Ill just start off with dorcus titanus palawanicus
  3. I want to practice using kinshi bottles and was wondering which beetle species is easiest to raise on kinshi?
  4. What kind of composter is that? What I really want to know is what is a good one to buy? this has some type of features besides being a compost bin it just smashes the materials? Or does it do something else?
  5. Just set up a light trap and pray
  6. I live in Phoenix and went once in early August and once in mid October didn't find any living specimens. I found 2 dead females on the October trip there are alot of Xyloryctes thestalus, and I think another similar looking hornless species very hard to tell apart mistake them for female xyloryctes thestalus. I found 3 Chrysina Gloriosa on the August trip. I think September maybe the best month for Dynastes Granti. Highest concentration of beetles is the Home Depot and that is where I found the 2 dead females. I didn't see any other collectors. There also seems to be a rush of beetles just at dusk and just after sun down and then alot seem to disappear but slowly you might see some different species trickle in like Chrysina gloriosa. Maybe try camping and setting up a light trap that is what I might do this year.
  7. There is lucanus mazama, tiger beetles and pasimachus beetles too not as flashy but worth a mention I think.
  8. No these are very small beetles by comparison. They do have a horn tho.
  9. Ill give 4 Xyloryctes thestalus is you want I doubt I'm going to be able to get them to oviposit.
  10. I have poor phonics my stab at it would be Zi'lory'c'tez thes'tal'us???
  11. I think if I'm going to try raising them I should be able to at least some what pronounce their name.
  12. That is why they call them stags. 8=======D
  13. I bought some substrate from you now that I noticed your signature and name
  14. I went again today and again came up empty no Dynastes Granti. But I did at least find 3 dead females. I guess I'm going to try raising some xyloryctes thestalus instead. I did find a beefy male xyloryctes thestalus tho, I think he would be considered a major if these were in the hobby.
