  1. If you need a quick fix for food Peter sells a good sized amount over at shop.bugsincyberspace.com/, that's what I fed to my beetles.
  2. They are grubs yes? I ordered three and kept them all together and they came out just fine! Two are adults that pupated around the same time while one is still a grub. I removed the pupal cells when I found them, I'm not sure if the other could have destroyed them but I wanted to play it safe.
  3. The only card mounted specimines that I have seen were incredibly old lady bugs that were glued to a piece of card stock. Are you planning on glueing it as well? You should post a picture!
  4. Happy birthday peter! You are an incredible help to all of the bug fanatics around here! My mantids and beetles are all framed now, but I look forward to ordering more pets from you!
  5. Those are incredible! Thank you for posting the habitat pictures as well! It gives novice hunters a better idea of what sort of place to look to find some beautiful beetles!
  6. The strangest thing happened today... I was taking my P. Muelleri to school with me, so I tied a little string onto his mandible so that he wouldn't fly away while I showed my entomology class (I didn't want to take any risks;) As soon as I gently tied the little string on, the normally aggressive beetle let go of my hand and just sat there, freaked out or something! He became very docile and his antennae came out and started wiggling around. Anyone ever had this happen before? I know people like to tie strings to their legs and fly them (which seems kind of mean to me, personally) but I didn't want to damage him in case he did decide to take off.
  7. If you break the cell you can always make an artificial cell for him to pupate in! I'm so excited for you!
  8. I ran into the same problem a whole back, I haven't tried since though.
  9. No, I checked and it meant that anything that needed to be inspected was just held onto and delayed... So if anyone ordered any beetles they might have been held hostage for a couple weeks...
  10. I am so terribly jealous! They are incredible!
  11. Thanks Matt! I have never heard of using glassine for beetles before! I just use it for my leps Oak, when you say drying out completely, you aren't referring to the alcohol correct? I would staple it still soft and relaxed with the alcohol?
  12. Does anyone have experience with how to properly paper beetles? I have some extras that I collected and don't want to pin right now, but I want to save them for later. From the ones I have, it seems like cardboard with plastic and staples, but what kind of plastic should be used/where to get it? Thanks in advance!
  13. That is a pretty good size for the rugose! Excellent horns!
  14. Just for fun, what is the most impressive size you have gotten out of beetles that you have reared? Not necessarily the largest species, but the biggest size for a species! Post some pictures if you have them!
  15. That monster is beautiful!! Is the red it's final colour?
